Typing practice with your own text
Most typing sites hand you fixed lessons or a stream of random words. That is fine for learning the home row, but it is not what you will face in an exam hall. Legal Hindi, railway data entry, banking prose and office correspondence each have their own vocabulary, punctuation and rhythm. Practising on the material you will actually be tested on is what closes the gap — so TypingSarthi lets you bring your own passage and type it under the same scoring rules as a real test.
Four ways to load a passage
- Paste or type it yourself. Anything from 50 to 20,000 characters — a single paragraph from a previous year's paper, or a whole chapter.
- Import a file. .txt, .md, .pdf, .docx up to 10 MB. The file is read inside your browser, so the document itself never leaves your computer.
- Start from an exam template. 6 ready-made passages written in the style of common exam papers, 2 of them in Hindi. Load one and edit it as you like.
- Generate the 200 most common words. A fresh passage built from the 200 English words that make up roughly half of all everyday writing — the fastest way to raise your baseline speed.
Exam-style templates included
- SSC / CHSL style — General-administration prose, moderate vocabulary
- Banking / clerical — Financial terms, figures and formal correspondence
- Stenography drill — Dense, punctuation-heavy dictation-style prose
- Railway / data entry — Codes, numbers and short repetitive fields
- न्यायालय / High Court — Legal Hindi with formal court vocabulary
- सामान्य हिंदी — Everyday Hindi prose, mixed sentence lengths
These are practice passages written to resemble the style of each paper. They are not reproduced from any official question paper.
Build your own text library
Every passage you save keeps its own title, language (English or Hindi) and up to six tags, so a growing collection stays usable. Search across your texts, sort them by newest, oldest, longest, shortest or A–Z, and filter by a tag such as exam or essay. Edit a passage when you spot a typo in it, or delete it when you are done.
Your saved texts are attached to your account, which is what lets you reopen the same passage tomorrow and watch your speed on it improve.
Scored the way an exam would score it
Before each attempt you choose how strict the session is: the typing model, whether the two-mistake block is on, and which scoring method to apply. Practising your own text is therefore not a softer exercise than a timed test — it is the same engine, on your material.
Not sure which scoring method applies to you? See how net WPM and accuracy are calculated, or check the speed requirement for your exam.
Hindi passages work the same way
Paste Devanagari text and type it on Remington GAIL (Kruti Dev) — the layout most Hindi government typing exams use — or on InScript. Nothing to install, and no font setup.
New to that layout? Read the Remington GAIL guide before you start.
Common questions
- Do I need an account?
- No. Starting creates a guest account for you in the background, so your passages and results are saved straight away. Add an email later and everything you have already done carries over to that account.
- Is my document uploaded anywhere?
- The file you import is opened and read inside your browser — it is never sent to us. The text you then choose to save is stored on your account so you can practise it again, and you can delete it at any time.
- How long can a passage be?
- Between 50 and 20,000 characters. That is long enough for an imported chapter, and short enough that a single sentence still works as a quick drill.
- Can I practise a previous year's paper?
- Yes — that is exactly what this is for. Paste the passage, or import the PDF you downloaded, and type it under exam-style scoring.
