Remington GAIL or InScript?

Which Hindi keyboard layout should I practise?
The one your exam uses. Most Hindi government typing exams reportedly test on Remington GAIL (Kruti Dev), not InScript. Check your exam's current notification, then practise that layout only — switching layouts splits your muscle memory.
Do I need to install Kruti Dev font or a Hindi keyboard?
Not for Remington GAIL. TypingSarthi converts your keypresses to Hindi inside the browser, so no font, IME or software is needed. InScript is different: it uses your operating system's own Hindi keyboard, so you need to enable the InScript layout in your OS language settings first.
How is Hindi typing speed calculated?
As net words per minute: your gross speed minus a penalty for errors. Boards reportedly use different formulas, so TypingSarthi shows the same attempt scored by more than one method. The Net WPM formula page explains each one.
Can I take the Hindi typing test on my phone?
The page works in mobile browsers, but exams are taken on a physical keyboard. Practise on a laptop or with an external keyboard so your speed reflects exam conditions.
