Remington GAIL (Kruti Dev) Hindi typing test
Most Hindi government typing exams test on the Remington GAIL layout with Kruti Dev / Devlys fonts — not the InScript keyboard most typing apps assume. Training on the wrong layout means your muscle memory doesn't match the exam.
Why Remington GAIL and not InScript?
InScript is the government-standard Hindi keyboard layout, and it is what most Hindi typing tutors teach. But several major recruitment boards continue to test on the older Remington GAIL layout via Kruti Dev / Devlys fonts instead. A candidate who trains on InScript and sits an exam on Remington GAIL is typing on an unfamiliar keyboard on exam day.
Exams that reportedly use Remington GAIL

- SSC Stenographer — Hindi — Hindi typing on the Remington GAIL layout.
- RRB NTPC — Typing Skill Test — Qualifying typing test for junior clerk posts.
- High Court — LDC / Clerk — Court clerical posts; passages carry legal vocabulary.
- RSMSSB (Rajasthan) — Uses word-based scoring with full and half mistake penalties.
- Data Entry Operator — Records and structured data — a common private-sector data entry expectation.

How TypingSarthi supports it
TypingSarthi maps Remington GAIL (Kruti Dev) keystrokes to Devanagari directly in your browser — the same keys you'd press on Kruti Dev software, no IME, font or extra software to install. Kruti Dev 010 is the assumed variant; 011/016 share this mapping.
Known limits
- Other Remington variants (Vedmata, some DevLys edge cases) may differ slightly.
- Rare characters reached via Alt + numeric keypad codes are not covered.
- Some boards specify their own layout or switch to InScript/Mangal — always check your exam's current notification.
